I thought I was bad at reading music…
The only way I could keep going was by learning every piece by heart, then standing in front of the music stand and reading only the pitch of the notes, without telling anyone that I didn’t truly understand what I was reading. What I didn’t know was that my brain was processing information in a different way. Having dyslexia and dyscalculia (affecting language processing and mathematical reasoning) didn’t mean I couldn’t learn music; it meant I needed to find a different way
